Metabolic syndrome is defined as group of pathological symptoms that consists of central obesity, hypertension, hyperglycaemia, and dyslipidaemia. Abnormal accumulation and exaggerated of lipid that can cause pathological condition that may lead into several health issues is defined as obesity. Obesity could easily be recognized by counting the body mass index (BMI). There is a significant escalation of obesity rate in recent years. The increase of the prevalence impacts another consequence such as hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in adolescent in 10 – 18 years old is estimated about 13%. Hence, in this study, we would like analyse the correlation between BMI on the incidence of hypertension in adolescent as the part of the risk of metabolic syndrome. The excuse in taking secondary school students as a subject of sample is due to the lifestyle in era of globalization. Consumption of excessive fat such as fast food has already became normal conditions for secondary school students. Unhealthy habit like that may escort an obesity that later on manifests into several health problems, example like hypertension as the part of metabolic syndrome.
