Taufiq Hidayat. R011191103. Description of the Use of Chronic Wound Dressings Based on Wound Characteristics. Guided by Saldy Yusuf and Wa Ode Nur Isna Sabriyati.
Background: Chronic wounds are a type of wound that is difficult to heal which is usually caused by infection in acute wounds. Diabetic foot wounds are a type of chronic wound with a high prevalence. According to the International Diabetes Federation, there are 425 million people suffering from diabetes in the world, this number will increase to 643 million in 2030 and 783 million in 2045
Objective: Understand the description of the use of chronic wound dressings based on wound characteristics
Method: This research is a quantitative study with a retrospective approach. This research uses the DMIST instrument with total sampling technique. Respondents in this study totaled 73 people.
Results: The results of the study showed that the characteristics of wounds in healing were good, as seen from the characteristics of the wounds, the number of respondents increased and decreased. The inflammation/infection characteristic point 3 showed a greater percentage than the other characteristics, namely 25 patients (34.2%) and decreased at the end of the visit for 14 patients (19.2%). The primary dressing used is Zalf Wound, while the secondary dressing is gauze at the initial and final visits.
Conclusion: The results of research related to wound characteristics using the DMIST observation sheet, most of the wound characteristics experienced a regeneration or repair process in the wound seen from the number of characteristics that experienced improvement. The most common types of dressings used in initial and final care are zalf wounds in the primary dressing and gauze in the secondary dressing.
