Abstract (Abstrak)

Shallots Allium ascalonicum L. is one type of vegetable that is useful as a spice in cooking and medicine. The part of the onion that has high economic value is the tuber . While the trunk / leaves have not been used. The availability of red onion waste is quite abundant in Enrekang Regency has the potential to be used as raw material for composting. Composting can be accelerated by using a bioactivator. This study aims to determine the effect of giving bioactivator EM4 and MOL of vegetable waste on the composting of scallion waste, to determine the physical quality of composting of scallion waste with the addition of bioactivator EM4 and MOL of vegetable waste and to determine the ratio of C/N, temperature, pH and the rate of decomposition of scallion waste with the addition of EM4 and MOL of vegetable waste. The composting process was carried out for 40 days, the parameters observed were the physical aspects and the physical and chemical characteristics of the compost. This study consisted of 4 treatments with 3 replications. The results showed that the best compost was obtained in the treatment of 3 kg shallot leaf waste plus 10% EM4 which had a color, odor and texture that resembled soil, and a good temperature, pH, decomposition rate and C/N ratio 21 which is almost meet SNI standards.
