Abstract (Abstrak)

Research on the synthesis of Cu/ZnO catalyst and application to the photodegradation of titan yellow dye (TY) have finished using the impregnation method. This study aims to determine the crystal size, functional group that plays a role in the degradation and to determine the effectiveness of Cu/ZnO catalysts in the degradation of TY dye on the effect of contact time and concentration. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to investigate the crystal size and functional groups of Cu/ZnO catalysts. The crystal size obtained is 16.28 nm with a wurtzite crystal structure. The FTIR spectrum of Cu/ZnO catalyst shows absorption at a wavelength of 451.34 cm-1 , its state by the Zn-O strain and Zn-O-Cu bonds at a wavenumber of 486.03 cm-1 . The results of photodegradation of TY dye showed that the optimum contact time was 90 minutes with a concentration of 150 ppm, resulting in a degradation capacity of 95.83 %.
