Abstract (Abstrak)
Characteristics of the turbulent boundary layer under irregular wave, i.e. the time-variation of velocity profile and bottom shear stress, are investigated and described through both laboratory and numerical models. Numerical modeling of turbulence flow characteristic under irregular wave flow using shear stress transport (SST) k-ω turbulence model. Data analysis method used data experiment given in Tanaka et.al. [1]. Model is validated by the linearized boundary layer equation of motion velocity profile in the turbulence boundary layer under irregular wave over rough bed and the available experiment data. A comparative estimate of bottom shear stress among experimental data, turbulence models and Kabilang & Sato methods was made.Turbulence models and Kabilang & Sato methods does not show a good agreement with the bottom shear stress from experimental results of along the irregular wave cycle. They gave overestimated and underestimated value at crest and through parts from experimental results. A new method for estimation of bottom shear stress under irregular waves has been proposed.
