Abstract (Abstrak)

The Effect of Halymenia durvillei Extract In Vivo to Increase Lysozyme Activity and Disease Resistance Against WSSV (White Spot Syndrome Virus) on White Shrimp (Penaeus Vannamei, Boone 1931). Halymenia durvillei has potential to used as a source of immunostimulant for white shrimp due to its content of alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids, saponins and flavonoids. This study aims to evaluate the effect of seaweed extract injection on white shrimp to increasing the immune parameter of lysozyme activity after extract injection and survival rate after challenge test. This research was carried out in October - November 2022 at the Hatchery and Laboratory of Parasites and Fish Diseases, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method which consisted of 4 treatments namely A (Control), B (0.2 mg), C (0.6 mg), and D (1 mg). Each treatment consisted of 3 replications. The test animal used was white shrimp with an average weight of 15 g. The test agent for challenged test using the White Spot Syndrome Virus. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the immune parameters of lysozyme activity on white shrimp hemocyte cells increased at doses of C (0.6 mg) on the fifth and seventh days after injection of extract. The response of shrimp body resistance against WSSV also showed a significant effect at dose B (0.2 mg).
