Abstract (Abstrak)
This study aims to determine the dose of biochar and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) which gave the best effect on the growth and production of Shallot. The research was conducted from June to November 2021 and consisted of two stages. The first stage is Biochar making and field research conducted at the teaching Farm, Agriculture Faculty, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The second stage is observation of root infection at the Microbiology Laboratory of Makassar Forestry Research, Development, and Innovation Agency. The research was conducted in the form of a factorial experiment with 2 factors using a Randomized Block Design as the environmental design. The experiment consisted of two factors, the first factor was Biochar which consists of four levels (0 ton ha-1,; 5 tons ha-1; 10 tons ha-1; 15 tons ha-1), while the second factor is dose of AMF which consists of four levels (0 g plant -1 ; 3 g plant-1; 6 g plant-1; 9 g plant-1). The results show that 15 ton ha-1 of biochar gave the best result on the bulb production based on fresh weight parameter (22,81 g) and bulb dry weight parameter (17,68 g), while application of 6 g AMF per plant gave the best results on root infection parameter (85,55%). The interaction between 10 ton ha-1 biochar and 6 g plant-1 AMF gave the best results on shallot production in the parameter of bulb weight per plant is 35,13 g and dry weight of bulb per plant is 29,95 g. There is potential of shallot production in the combination of biochar 10 ton ha-1 and AMF 6 g plant-1 treatment of 7.5 ton ha-1.
