Keunikan dan Kekuatan Bahasa Figuratif Dalam Mengungkapkan Makna Kultural Pada Novel Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Rosso dan Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Blu (Kajian Stilistika) = The Uniqueness and Language Power of Figurative Language in Expressing Cultural Meanings in Novels Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Rosso and Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Blu (Stylistic Studies)

FAIRUZ. The Uniqueness and Language Power of Figurative Language in Expressing Cultural Meanings in Novels Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Rosso and Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Blu (Stylistic Studies) (Under Supervised by Fathu Rahman, Nurhayati, and Mardi Adi Amin).
The research examines two novels written by two Japanese authors with the same theme through different writing techniques. Both novels are analyzed using the stylistic study, a study focusing on the aspect of language style. The research aims at: 1) revealing the uniqueness and peculiarity the use of the figurative language style found in the novel of Ekuni Kaori's Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Rosso ( RTJNA Rosso) and in the novel of Hitonari Tsuji‟s Reisei To Jounetsu No Aida Blu (RTJNA Blu) and 2) unraveling the figurative language power in revealing the cultural meaning in both novels above. The research applied the combination of the stylistic theories initiated by Verdonk and Simpson and succeeded in achieving the objectives as formulated, namely the data units illustrating the metaphor dominating the language style use, followed by the simile and personificalion. The stylistic aspect discussion for the cultural meaning disclosure used the qualitative method according to Cresswel with the narrative study approach. The research result on the literary works of RTJNA Ftosso and RTJNA Blu indicates lhe uniqueness (peculiarity) of the uses of the figurative language styles by two authors, namely the figures of speech of metaphor simile, and personification being dominated by the natural elements such the rain, sound of water, cloudiness, words with real objects utilizing the real nature as the formation of certain words that have meanings. The uniqueness and distinctiveness denote Japanese distinctive taste which then becomes the means to reveal the cultural aspects (cultural meanings) of the contents of the literary works. The conclusion of the research is that the language style becomes the language power towards strengthening the ideas expressed through the language style used.
