Abstract (Abstrak)

LA ODE. Relationship Between Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet-Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) And Nutritional Status On Mortality In Stroke Patients (supervised by Aminuddin, Nurpudji A.Taslim,

Inflammation in stroke is a complex process of the brain tissue damage (necrosis) affecting the nutritional status which can lead to a malnutrition, mortality and disability in the stroke patients. The Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) & Platelets-Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) can be used as the markers in the acute stroke. The increase of NLR and PLR is associated with the inflammation which can affect the mortality in stroke patients. The research aim to assess the relationship between NLR, PLR, and nutritional status and the mortality in the stroke patients. The research used the cross-sectional study design on stroke inpatients in the Central General Hospital Wahidin who admitted during the period from January 2018 to December 2020, 20 – 65 years old and they were considered feasible to be involved in the research. General characteristics data were collected through medical records and biochemical data were collected through electronic data. The Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio was categorised into two, namely the normal NLR and high NLR. The Plateletsl-Lymphocyte Ratio was classified into two, namely the normal PLR and high PLR. The nutritional status was based on Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) scores. The Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) was categorised into the severe malnutrition, moderate malnutrition, mild malnutrition, normal, overweight, and obesity. The mortality is divided into deaths and survival. The data were analysed using SPSS version 25.0. The data of 365 patients analysed. The research result indicates that the average age are 51.67 years in the HS group and 54.05 years in the NHS group with 72.1% of survivals and 27.9 % of deaths. There is a significant difference between NLR and mortality (p = 0.005), LLA and mortality (p=0.005), but there is no significant difference between PLR and mortality (p=0.081), SGA dan mortality (0.687). The mortality of the stroke patients is associated with high NLR value and nutritional status.
