As the economy improves and technology advances, changes in lifestyle also occur. These include changes in diet, decrease in physical activity, as well as increase in bad habits like smoking. It can cause pancreatic β-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance. This literature review utilizing academic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect included all journals recorded, classified, and analyzedin 8 years, from 2001 to 2019.Artocarpus altilis leaf extract was found to enhance the function of pancreatic β-cells and protect against free radicals. Artocarpus altilis leaf extract is recommended in reducing blood glucose.
