SURVEI TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS DALAM PERAWATAN KAKI DIABETES DI KABUPATEN BOLAANG MONGONDOW UTARA

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease which is reported to increase every year. Complications that can occur due to the disease are diabetic foot, with proper foot care it will minimize the risk of unwanted foot injuries. Patient knowledge about diabetic foot care can well motivate patients in performing foot care. Research objective: to determine the level of knowledge of DM patients in performing diabetic foot care to prevent complications of diabetic foot wounds in Bolaang Mongondow Utara Regency. Methods: This study used a descriptive survey design method. The number of research samples were 101 respondents and the sampling technique was using cluster sampling. Data collection techniques using google form questionnaires and telephone interviews. Results: Most of the respondents had received counseling on diabetes foot care (75.2%). Most of the respondents had a good level of knowledge about diabetes foot care (80.2%). respondents who had received counseling about diabetes foot care had a good level of knowledge (97.4%). Conclusions and suggestions: the level of knowledge of diabetes mellitus patients in carrying out diabetes foot care is in the good category because most of the respondents have received counseling about diabetes foot care.
