Abstract (Abstrak)

ABSTRACT
Sam Hermansyah, Constructivist approach to the integration of systematic Reflection in a Partial Immersion Program (supervised by Noer Jiihad Saleh, Abidin Pammu, Nasmilah).
The study addresses the immersed English integration program to develop students' oral proficiency which covers 1) processes how the Partial Immersion Program develops oral English proficiency of the first semester students at FKIP UMS Rappang; 2) the similarities and differences in how the processes are practiced by the students in the classroom; 3) the difficulties encountered by the students in speaking English through the program, and 4) the teachers 'and students' perception regarding the partial immersion program.
The study was undertaken by applying pre-experimental design through implementation of pre and post test and pre-test to a particular group of the students. The data were collected by means of relevant research instrument, such as speaking test, classroom observation, questionnaire, and interviews. To ensure the validity and reliability of research findings, pilot study was performed with regards to questionnaires before they were distributed to the intended samples.
The study indicates that the test value is smaller than the tabie value (1.032 <2.021). This value confirms that the application of the program to develop students' spoken English proficiency is significantly effective. The students 'achievement in the post-test signifies improvement in the students' score based on their gained post test (4,375> 3,083). The study confirms the effectiveness of Constructivist Approach to the integration of systematic Reflection in a Partial Immersion Program (PIP) in developing students' oral proficiency. Positive perceptions of both students and teachers were exclusively evident from the study
