Abstract (Abstrak)

In term of exploitation, there are 2 potential groupings of reef fish emerged i.e. edible and ornamental fishes. Some fishes deliberately grouped according to family taxa, such Haemulidae that specifically edible fishes, and Pomacanthidae that specifically ornamental fishes. The reef fish resources around patch reefs in Sinjai waters were studied for its sustainable management. These patch reefs have been suffered from intensive fishing and their fishes need to be assessed. There were up to 13 families of reef fishes found during observation. Their common uses are discussed with some ecological reference explanation.
