Abstract (Abstrak)

The hydroponic farming system is one of the modern agriculture that has been widely developed at this time, this agricultural system is considered very profitable because it no longer requires soil as a planting medium and also does not require a large area of land. However, this hydroponic farming system has a drawback that the impact can be very fatal for production results, namely the need for optimal light for plants to be met every day. So far, farmers have paid little attention to it, even though one of the main aspects for the growth of a plant is the fulfillment of the need for light. Especially in Indonesia, where the lighting is only about 6-8 hours per day, while the types of horticultural plants that are generally cultivated using this hydroponic system must require approximately 14-16 hours of light. Therefore, it is important to provide the best solution for this light need, one of which is the presence of artificial light such as the use of LED Grow lights which are very suitable to be combined in hydroponic farming systems. This study aims to observe the effectiveness of the performance of hydroponics with the addition of LED Grow light on lettuce plants. The method used in this research is through direct data collection in the field. There are several parameters observed in this study, namely the number of plant leaves, plant height, leaf area, wet weight and dry weight, water consumption, nutrient consumption and climate which includes temperature, light intensity, and humidity. The results obtained in this study are the comparison between the number of leaves, plant height, and leaf area on lettuce plants that use additional light from LED Grow lights with plants that only use sunlight.
