Abstract:
Industry activity and population crowded in Makassar city could increase heavy metal contaminant in estuarine water. The objective of the study was to analysis the concentration of heavy metal Cd in marine water, in sediment, and in mussel muscle around marine estuarine of Makassar. The concentration of heavy metal Cd in water entrance of Tallo River was 0,06 mg/l and Losari Beach Makassar was 0,054 mg/l. This condition was exceed than quality stadard of marine water for tourism and marine organism. On the other hand, the concentration of heavy metal Cd in sedimen had not been given a biological effect on marine organism. The concentration of heavy metal Cd in muscle of green mussel from Losari Beach and Kayangan island less than maximum standard for food consumption safety. In contras, the concentration of Cd in green mussel from entrance of Tallo River was exceed than maximum standard for food consumption safety.
